First Major Beta Update (v1.1)


Hey everyone!

First of all, thanks to anyone that's played our game! It's been a life-long dream for both of us to make games and here we are! 

The feedback we've received has been astounding and I really appreciate anyone who's taken the time to provide it in any form! Feedback really helps make our game the best it can be and we're always excited to read it and even more excited to make the game better!!!

Now for some patch notes (this is my first time doing this so look forward to seeing the improvement in my documentation as we go :)) Feedback/suggestions are ALWAYS appreciated!!

Features

Shroomies

My goal here is to give more incentive to do resets as several folks mentioned they were just farming ST Hairballs with full upgrades and that doesn't feel all that fun to me! We'd love to hear what you think about them!
  • Shroomies are our first post-launch new feature, partially in response to community feedback!
  • Previously, I had some hand-selected upgrades that were granted for each Special Leaf purchased but now you can decide what you want your permanent upgrades to be!
  • Shroomies are spawned in two different ways: Reaching a new Special Leaf milestone for the first time (grants more Shroomies for more expensive upgrades) as well as 1 from buying half and another from buying all of the upgrades!

Help Text

OBVIOUSLY we should've had this from the start - sorry!
  • Information is now available in the "?" button of the menu!
  • Currently there are the following sections:
    • About
    • Terminology
    • The Portal
    • Special Leaves
    • Shroomies
  • If you feel like you're not sure of something and it isn't explained in the Help section, let us know!

Seasons

We felt the visual progression was a little lackluster so we spiced it up a little bit!
  • As you progress through the standard leaf milestones (top bar), the background will change to better match the new leaves you're unlocking!
  • When you've completed the final milestone, the background will shift to the next one every 2 minutes.

New Standard Leaves

We didn't have enough leaves to support 4 seasons - we do now!
  • 5 new standard "leaves" for the coldest times of the year :)

Balance

Working through some balancing - I felt the early game was a little too rough, especially on the first handful of runs and this should reduce some of that friction. Additionally, slight nerf to the STHB LP Ratio to shift some of the power to the more interesting (imo) Shroomies system.
  • SpaceTime Hairball LP Ratio nerfed
    • 15% => 10%
  • Move Speed 
    • Base: 3 => 4
    • Per level: 0.25 => 0.2
  • Early game upgrade curve smoothed (many < 100 HB upgrades slightly shifted in cost, mostly lowered)
  • Cost of most Special Leaves greatly increased, rainbow leaf is now the "starter" leaf

Quality-of-Life/Polish

  • Special leaves now have a S H I N Y effect to help distinguish them visually at a glance.
  • An icon now appears to let you know when the game has saved
  • LP gains now have a bit of randomness in where they pop up above Milkshake
  • If you've unlocked the ending, you can now continue playing as normal if ya'd like
  • Pickups now have a thing black border to help them stick out on the background
  • Leaves will now faintly sway in the wind
  • STHB reward text will now show when you hover over The Portal after you've unlocked it on that run

Bugfixes

  • Movement deadzone slightly raised which should fix the jitter some people have been having occasionally. Reach out if you're still having jittering please!
  • ...I mean probably some other stuff but clearly I didn't document this well enough WOOPS - I'll be better about this next time :P
